Flanges for data center projects in India

India's data center capacity is growing fast, from Mumbai and Chennai to Hyderabad and now Visakhapatnam. We forge and machine flanges for data center cooling at our works in Gujarat, and these pages cover each market's climate, water and flange specification.

We make stainless and carbon steel flanges for data center cooling at our works in Umbergaon, Gujarat, and supply them to data center projects anywhere in India: ASME B16.5 Class 150 and ASME B16.47 flanges in A105, 304L and 316L for chilled water, condenser water, CDU and technology cooling loops, EN 1092-1 PN16 flanges where the plant follows European practice, and AWWA C207 and C228 flanges for large water mains. Orders go by road from the works with a GST tax invoice and an e-way bill, and every heat comes with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate.

India's data center market

India had 1,789 MW of operational data center capacity in the first half of 2026, in 147 data centers run by 33 providers. The top seven markets added 178 MW in those six months, and another 3,860 MW is in the pipeline to 2030: 509 MW under construction and 3,351 MW planned (Cushman & Wakefield).

Data center capacity by city, first half of 2026 (Cushman & Wakefield)
MarketOperationalUpcoming supply
Mumbai890 MW1,726 MW
Hyderabad151 MW710 MW
Chennai214 MW368 MW
Delhi NCR183 MW387 MW
Pune133 MW258 MW
Bengaluru162 MW100 MW
Kolkata22 MW84 MW

Mumbai has about half of the operating capacity and the largest pipeline. Hyderabad has the second-largest pipeline and Chennai the second-largest operating base. Visakhapatnam is not in these figures yet: Google broke ground on its AI hub there in April 2026, planned at nearly 1 GW in a single location (Bharti Airtel).

What India's climate means for cooling piping

Climate at the reference station for each market: IMD 1991 to 2020 normals and station records
MarketHottest month, average highRecord highRecord lowAnnual rain
Mumbai34.9 °C (October)42.2 °C7.4 °C2,502 mm
Hyderabad38.8 °C (May)45.5 °C6.1 °C860 mm
Chennai37.1 °C (May)45.0 °C13.9 °C1,408 mm
Delhi NCR39.9 °C (May)47.2 °C-0.6 °C774 mm
Pune37.9 °C (April)44.4 °C1.7 °C841 mm
Bengaluru34.1 °C (April)39.2 °C7.8 °C1,078 mm
Visakhapatnam36.7 °C (May)45.4 °C10.5 °C1,055 mm
  • No low-temperature grade needed. ASME B16.5 rates A105 carbon steel flanges down to -29 °C (-20 °F). The lowest record in the table is -0.6 °C, in New Delhi, so A350 LF2 is needed only where a specification sets a lower minimum design metal temperature.
  • Heat sizes the equipment, not the flange class. Record highs reach 45 to 47 °C in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Visakhapatnam. An A105 Class 150 flange is still rated 17.7 bar at 100 °C; check the gasket rating on sun-exposed piping.
  • Monsoon humidity. For months at a time the dew point is above chilled water temperatures, so chilled water flanges and valves need insulation with a continuous vapor barrier.
  • Sea air. Mumbai, Chennai and Visakhapatnam are on the coast. Paint outdoor carbon steel flanges with the pipe, and use 316L rather than 304L for stainless steel outdoors.
  • Water. Chennai's industrial clusters are supplied with treated sewage water, and Bengaluru's data centers rely heavily on groundwater. That pushes designs toward closed loops and recycled water in cooling towers, and stainless parts in that water are better in 316L.

Flange standards on Indian projects

ASME B16.5 Class 150 is the usual flange for data center water systems in India, as across most of Asia and the Middle East, with ASME B16.47 above 24 inches. Plant designed to European practice uses EN 1092-1, usually PN16, and large water mains can use AWWA C207 flanges. Older building services specifications sometimes name IS 6392 or BS 4504 flanges; the questions below cover how we quote them.

Ordering for a project in India

  • Domestic supply. Orders are invoiced with GST and go by road from Umbergaon with an e-way bill, to the site, your contractor's yard or a fabrication shop. The quotation states the delivery terms.
  • Inspection at the works. Your engineer or third-party inspector is welcome for stage or final inspection. Material has been inspected at our works by TÜV, Gulf Lloyds, IRClass, Bureau Veritas and SGS, and EN 10204 3.2 certificates are available on request.
  • Traceability. An EN 10204 3.1 certificate for every heat, heat numbers stamped before machining, and 100% PMI on stainless steel. See quality and traceability.
  • Clean stainless. Stainless flanges can be pickled and passivated to ASTM A380 and A967 for technology cooling loops. See pickling and passivation.
  • Any size of order. A few flanges for a fit-out are as welcome as a campus package, and pipes, fittings and plates can be supplied with the flanges.

Indian buyers we have supplied include BHEL, NTPC, Indian Oil (IOCL), Reliance Industries and ISRO, and in 2025 BHEL awarded us a contract for carbon steel and stainless steel flanges. Our head office is in Mumbai and our works are at GIDC Umbergaon: see our contact details or request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do you supply data center projects in India directly?

Yes. We supply contractors, fabricators and owners in India from our works in Gujarat, invoiced with GST and delivered by road with an e-way bill. Every enquiry gets a reply, whether it is for a few flanges or a full campus package.

Which documents come with a domestic order?

A GST tax invoice, an e-way bill for the road journey, a packing list and an EN 10204 3.1 certificate for every heat, with PMI results for stainless steel. EN 10204 3.2 certificates are available when a third-party inspector witnesses the tests.

Our drawings name IS 6392 or BS 4504 flanges. Can you quote?

Send the drawings or line list with the standard as written. We quote each line as specified, or point out the ASME B16.5 or EN 1092-1 flange that matches it, so your consultant can approve the change.
