Flanges for data center projects in Hyderabad

Hyderabad has India's second-largest data center pipeline, led by hyperscale and AI-ready campuses. Here is what its hot, dry summers and high rack densities mean for the cooling piping and its flanges.

For data centers in Hyderabad we supply ASME B16.5 Class 150 carbon steel flanges in A105 for chilled water and condenser water, ASME B16.47 flanges for large mains, and 316L stainless flanges, pickled and passivated, for the CDUs and technology cooling loops of liquid-cooled AI halls. Every heat comes with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate, and orders go by road from our works in Gujarat.

The Hyderabad data center market

Hyderabad had 151 MW of operational data center capacity in the first half of 2026 and 710 MW of upcoming supply, the second-largest pipeline in India after Mumbai (Cushman & Wakefield). AWS opened its Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) region, with three availability zones, in November 2022 (The South First).

New campuses are built for AI. CtrlS's park at Chandanvelly Industrial Park covers 40 acres and is planned for more than 600 MW of IT load at full build, with 250 MW of power sanctioned. Its buildings support rack densities up to 135 kW, with free air, direct liquid and immersion cooling, the last at up to 300 kW per rack (W.Media).

At those densities most of the heat leaves the rack in liquid, through CDUs and a stainless technology cooling loop, and the facility water and chilled water mains grow to match. That means more stainless flanges on the secondary side and larger carbon steel flanges, often ASME B16.47, on the primary side.

Climate and what it means for the piping

Climate at Hyderabad: IMD 1991 to 2020 normals and station records
MeasureValue
Hottest month, average daily high38.8 °C (May)
Record high45.5 °C
Record low6.1 °C
Annual rainfall860 mm, 73% of it from June to September

Hyderabad sits on the Deccan plateau, at about 540 m, and is hot and dry before the monsoon. The average daily high peaks at 38.8 °C in May, and relative humidity averages about 30% from March to May. The record high is 45.5 °C and the record low 6.1 °C, far above the -29 °C (-20 °F) to which ASME B16.5 rates A105 flanges.

Dry air suits evaporative cooling. Where cooling towers or adiabatic coolers are used, the make-up water decides the materials: carbon steel relies on the water treatment program, and stainless parts in tower water are better in 316L. Sun-exposed piping runs hotter than the air, which does not change the flange class, since an A105 Class 150 flange is still rated 17.7 bar at 100 °C. Check that the gaskets are rated for the surface temperature.

Getting flanges to Hyderabad

Flanges for Hyderabad projects go by road from our works in Umbergaon, Gujarat, to the site, your contractor's yard or the fabrication shop building your CDU skids and headers.

Domestic orders are invoiced with GST and travel with an e-way bill. Your engineer or third-party inspector is welcome at the works before dispatch. Supplying data center projects in India covers standards, inspection and ordering.

Flanges for other Indian data center markets: Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam.

Frequently asked questions

Which flanges do liquid-cooled AI halls need?

Stainless steel wherever the coolant flows: 316L weld neck flanges, or lap joint flanges with stub ends, to ASME B16.5 Class 150, pickled and passivated, with 100% PMI. ASHRAE TC 9.9 warns that a single unpassivated stainless component can put the whole loop at risk, so specify passivation on every stainless flange. See flanges for the technology cooling system.

Does Hyderabad's heat affect the flange rating?

Not in practice. ASME B16.5 rates an A105 Class 150 flange at 19.6 bar up to 38 °C and 17.7 bar at 100 °C, well above typical chilled water and condenser water pressures. On sun-exposed piping, check that the gaskets are rated for the surface temperature.

Can one order cover the plant and the white space?

Yes. One order can combine A105 flanges for the chilled water plant with 316L flanges for the CDUs and technology cooling loops, each line made and certified to its own specification. Pipes and fittings can be added to make a complete package.
