Flanges for data center projects in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai
Mumbai is India's largest data center market, with campuses from Chandivali to Navi Mumbai and Panvel. Here is what its coastal monsoon climate means for the cooling piping, and how flanges reach a site from our works at Umbergaon, north of the city.

For data centers in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai we supply ASME B16.5 Class 150 carbon steel flanges in A105 for chilled water and condenser water, ASME B16.47 flanges for mains above 24 inches, and 316L stainless flanges, pickled and passivated, for CDU and technology cooling system loops. They are forged and machined at our works in Umbergaon, north of Mumbai, and go by road to your site or contractor with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate for every heat.
The Mumbai data center market
Mumbai had 890 MW of operational data center capacity in the first half of 2026, about half of India's 1,789 MW, and the largest pipeline in the country: 1,726 MW of upcoming supply (Cushman & Wakefield).
Capacity sits in two areas. In Mumbai's eastern suburbs, NTT's campus at Chandivali is planned for 250 MW at full build-out, and NTT also builds at Mahape and Airoli in Navi Mumbai (DCD, 2022). Many of the newer and larger campuses are in Navi Mumbai and Panvel: Yotta's first building at Panvel provides 50 MW for 7,200 racks in a park planned for 250 MW (Analytics India Magazine), Digital Edge has started a 300 MW campus in Navi Mumbai (DCD, 2024), and Blackstone and Panchshil Realty have announced one of 500 MW (DCD, 2025).
At that scale the chilled water and condenser water mains go above 24 inches, where ASME B16.47 weld neck flanges or plate flanges take over, and blind flanges close the header ends that wait for later phases. AI halls add CDUs and technology cooling loops in stainless steel.
Climate and what it means for the piping
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Hottest month, average daily high | 34.9 °C (October) |
| Record high | 42.2 °C |
| Record low | 7.4 °C |
| Annual rainfall | 2,502 mm, 96% of it from June to September |
Mumbai is coastal, hot and wet. The average daily high at Santacruz peaks at 34.9 °C in October, and the 2,502 mm of annual rain falls almost entirely in the southwest monsoon. The record low is 7.4 °C, far above the -29 °C (-20 °F) to which ASME B16.5 rates A105, so no low-temperature grade is needed.
Two things matter more than temperature. Sea air carries chlorides, so carbon steel flanges at cooling towers, rooftop chillers and dry coolers need the same paint system as the pipe, and stainless flanges outdoors are better in 316L than 304L. And through the monsoon the air's dew point stays above chilled water temperatures, so chilled water flanges and valves need insulation with a continuous vapor barrier; condensation trapped under the insulation corrodes carbon steel.
Flange specification for Mumbai projects
| System | Flange | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling towers and condenser water | A105, ASME B16.5 Class 150, weld neck or slip-on; flat face at cast iron pumps and FRP towers | Painted with the pipe; salt air outdoors |
| Chilled water plant and facility water | A105, Class 150 RF, weld neck or slip-on; ASME B16.47 above NPS 24 | Insulate flanges and valves with a vapor barrier |
| Header ends and future phases | Blind flanges in the same class and face as the header | Order them with the first phase |
| CDUs and technology cooling system | 316L, Class 150, weld neck or lap joint with stub end, pickled and passivated, 100% PMI | Same grade as the pipe; no slip-ons on the TCS |
Every flange is stamped with its grade, size, class and lot number and ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate. Send us your line list and we quote each line as specified.
Getting flanges to Mumbai
Our works are at GIDC Umbergaon in Valsad district, Gujarat, north of Mumbai, and our head office is in Mumbai. Flanges go by road to the site, your contractor's yard or a fabrication shop anywhere in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai or Panvel.
Domestic orders are invoiced with GST and travel with an e-way bill. Your engineer or third-party inspector is welcome at the works before dispatch. Supplying data center projects in India covers standards, inspection and ordering.
Flanges for other Indian data center markets: Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam.
Frequently asked questions
Can you deliver to sites in Navi Mumbai and Panvel?
Yes. Orders go by road from our works at Umbergaon, north of Mumbai, to the address you give us: the site, your contractor's yard or a fabrication shop. The quotation states the delivery terms, and every heat ships with its EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
How should flanges be protected in Mumbai's sea air?
Our carbon steel flanges leave the works with a yellow rust-preventive coating, which protects them in storage and transport only. Outdoors, paint them with the pipe's coating system once the joint is tested. For stainless steel exposed to sea air, specify 316L rather than 304L.
Do you supply small quantities for fit-out work?
Yes. Small, mixed orders of a few flanges per size are welcome, for example for a data hall fit-out or a set of CDU connections, and they get the same marking and certificates as a campus package.
